New Yorkers Pay A Lot Of Taxes. We could’ve figured that one out on our own.

New York Daily News calls New York City the “tax capital of America” for good reason. According to the Independent Budget Office, for every $100 we earn, the city and state take out $9.02.

This number is a considerable portion, especially when since the national average is $6.16 for every $100.

E.J. McMahon of the Empire Center for New York State Policy attempted to account for the disparity when he said, “the difference is New York City is big enough to get away with it. But we will be increasingly vulnerable to competition,” McMahon said.

These taxes compounded with exorbitant rents make this New York City almost an impossible place to live. But would anyone ever want to trade it in for any other suck city? Don’t answer that. It’s totally a rhetorical question.
