For the past couple of weeks, ever since Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears checked into rehab, we have made predictions as to who would be the third celebrity to fall off too many tables and publicly puke an abnormal amount of times. At first, we assumed it was Britney when she checked out and back into rehab. But when she did it again, that completely destroyed our theory of “threes.” We are kind of attached to the idea, so we disqualified her. Then we thought, maybe, that Jessica Simpson would admit that she is addicted to crack or Sienna Miller would take too many magic mushrooms and believe she had turned into a turtle. And, obviously, there was always the chance that Kate Moss would think, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” and pick up a heroin habit. Never in a million years would we have thought the Eddie Van Halen would be the third celebrity to check into rehab in 2007.

But he is, and this is what he wrote in a letter to his fans:

I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I’m doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.

Now that we know who it is, we are kind of sad. We don’t know what to do with our time anymore.
