We think it is always a good idea to piss of the FDNY; it’s not like the city stands behind them 100% or that they do anything really significant.
The Ancient Order Of Hibernians wanted to make sure that the FDNY doesn’t get the respect it deserves by giving them a later slot in the parade. For 142 years, they have marched third in the parade, right after the fighting 69th infantry and the Police Department. Now, they have a slot that is 35 minutes later.
The organization justifies the shift because last year New Orleans firefighters, another group that no one really cares about because it’s not like there has been any tragedies there recently, delayed the parade when they marched with an unauthorized banner. This really pissed people off because, obviously, the only reason anyone goes to a parade is to wait for it to be over.
And, PS is the Ancient Order of Hibernians really punishing the FDNY?
