In a move that makes greed and self-indulgence blush Tom Ford’s new store in Manhattan opens, taking materialism to new heights. The 8,680-square-foot boutique located at 845 Madison Ave is setting out to create a new level of luxury.
From the cast-bronze crocodile reception desk and chair in the entrance to the numerous bespoke ateliers, the butlers and maids roaming the luxurious space and clothing details such as a button-down pants cuff that can be unflapped for a quick brush, Ford is aiming to create a new version of luxury.
Finally! For years I’ve had to take my pants completely off and hold them upside down to clean out the cuffs, Mr. Ford, you sir are a genius. We’re also sick of walking into stores and feeling creeped out by the fact that there are no butlers and maids roaming around. Finally, a place we can feel at home in.
Ford also basically calls Ralph Lauren a tasteless American preppy, describing his own style (and Cary Grant’s) as more “European”. We’re not saying we disagree, but snap, we bet Ralph didn’t see that coming. Meow!
