Election fraud. Improper use of school funds. Hiring her granny to speak at a forum. Frolicking in a pumpkin patch. Somewhere Karl Rove is hiding in a corner and whacking it.
Meredith Dolgin is accused of paying her grandmother $2,200 (plus a $200 travel stipend to travel from North Bellmore, L.I. She was driven by her husband) to speak at a symposium as an expert on body language.
Dolgin’s grandmother, Terrie Rabinowitz, told the Post, “Whatever I got paid is no big deal - I put in 14 hours of work on that night.” Hmm, $2,200 for 14 hours of work. That works out to about $157 an hour, sounds totally legit to us. At least we can see where she got (or apparently didn’t get) her moral compass from.
Dolgin is also accused of disbanding the Elections Committee and appointing herself and two close friends to replace the Committee. The same two friends who all used Student Council funds to pay for a trip to frolic about in a pumpkin patch that they claimed was an “annual Student Council event”. It just so happened they were the only three to know about the “event”.
There seems to be quite a vitriolic response from students over at the WSN site where the story was originally reported.
It really is a shame that the administration has completely ignored this problem and their responsiblity as active advisors, particularly in the face of allegations of misconduct, fraud, and racism from last year’s impeachment proceedings of three board members. The current elections are completely tainted and we should all call on the administration to have them stopped and launch an investigation before the process goes any further.
This gives me yet another reason to dislike NYU’s student body. NYU’s students leave a lot to be desired. I’m a freshman working hard at this school and I consder transferring more and more every day.
its about time! i have seen corruption on her part for the past several years on council!
And just for the record, the way Dolgin became president was by running unopposed, so it’s not like the NYU student body had a lot to choose from although No One seems like it may have been a better alternative in hindsight.
