An Open Letter to CNN

I understand it’s not an easy thing to wrap your head such a horribly despicable act like what Chris Benoit did to his family over the weekend.  I know it’s the new black to demonize steroids, but “roid rage” doesn’t cause you to tie up your wife, strangle her. Wait a day then smother your son. Place Bibles next to both of their bodies then wait another day and hang yourself. Steroids don’t cause that, batshit crazy causes that. Let’s stop trying to “explain” what is truly an inexplicably horrifying act.

Now CNN is literally blowing the hands off of mannequin children to demonstrate the dangers of fireworks. Wow.

P.S. Your weatherman on American Morning is the biggest douche bag ever.

I agree that roid rage doesn’t last long enough to premeditate what Benoit did , but they can and al most definitely lead to massive and severe depression, especially in long-term users.

To clarify, the depression that occurs after a long-time user ( 6 months or more) cycles off, when the body isn’t producing it’s own hormones (and may need to be chemeically jump-started with prescription drugs, another reason long term users choose either not to cycle off or go back on the soon after), and the user is suffering both physically and psychologically from the effects of losing muscle mass/ strength/ stamina/ the confidence that comes from having several hundred percent more than your usual testosterone levels pumping through your veins 24/7 (as opposed to the mild hormone spikes normal males get periodically throughout a given day).

Doesn’t depression normally manifest itself by making you want to hurt yourself?

All I know if this crime does not seem like a crime of rage or passion. It seems methodical and thought out. From the tying up of the wife before “asphyxiating” her, to the sending of the text messages early Sunday morning.

I just think it’s a mistake to try and put the blame on one thing so we can all go, “whew, well thank god I’m not on steroids.”

It seems like too much of an easy answer.

Oh Totally, I agree with that the roid rage by itself is bullshit and an easy sensational “out.”

But with all of the other fucked up shit going on in the world, I think the media purposely anesthetizes this crap so that we don’t have to accept that we really do live in a world of urban legends come true.

The media? Toning things down because they’re looking out for us?

Oh, jake. Thanks. Best laugh I had all day.
