Update #4: All seems to be right with the world, or at least the UES and South Bronx.  While it was hot today, it wasn’t outrageously hot and it was basically the first day of being really hot.  Let’s just hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

Update #3: ConEd is saying that around 136,000 customers on the UES and in The Bronx are effected as of right now. They’re calling it a “transmission disturbance” although they still don’t know what caused the disturbance.

Wolf Blitzer came to the shocking realization that no power = no elevators in hi-rise buildings. Nothing gets by that guy.

UPDATE #2: It’s spreading. The affected area could reach as far as Harlem and the South Bronx. UES still without power. People are not stuck on the trains because they can open the doors. What’s being effected are the signals. Reports believe that transformer explosions may be the original cause.

More: Reuter, WCBS, NY1

UPDATE: E, V and D tracks are effected by the outage. They’re saying the East Side lines are effected but no word yet whether or not there’s any interruption on the 4, 5 and 6 lines. Either way, there is something going on, but probably not a as major as we originally thought.

So it only took less than a week into summer for ConEd to shit the bed again.

CNN is reporting that the NYC Subway is suffering from “a major power outage”. I’ll have more on that when I can figure out what exactly is going on.

I still haven’t heard anything more about this, but I do know that today was the hottest day of the year so far, not sure if that is a factor in this outage.

Gothamist is reporting that it’s more than just the subway and is effecting only the UES.

At least while it was happening yesterday, they were saying that the storm that actually knocked out the power did so in Westchester.

So according to ConEd, when Westchester gets hit by a storm, we lose power.

I guess when we get hit by the storm, Jersey loses power or something.

    Oh, and eff ConEd.
