Magnolia may have all the bomb frostings, but apparently it has some unwanted sprinkles too. Sometime just before 3 p.m. Magnolia Bakery pulled its gates and locked its doors by order of the Health Department. The workers there are saying that it’s definitely not rats, but what the else are they going to say. And whether they say it or not, it’s the first thing everyone assumes when they see that sign anyway.
It’s no secret that the Dept of Health has been laying the smackdown on NYC restaurants ever since Fox5 aired a live segment showing rats basically taking over a KFC on 6th Ave that had recently passed a health department inspection. Since then they’ve been on a mission closing down food service places.
There hasn’t been an official response from Magnolia yet about why it’s been shut down, but it won’t be back open until at least Friday, possibly longer.
