UPDATE 2: WNBC’s on air reporter is reporting that besides the few injuries, many people have been “soiled by mud and debris” from the explosion. The humanity!
UPDATE: ConEd was to blame. A transformer fire triggered the steam pipe explosion.
Atleast two injuries have been reported after a major steam pipe explosion. The explosion was near Grand Central and the Chrysler building at 41st and Lex.
4,5 and 6 has been suspended through Midtown. None of those trains are traveling south of 86th St. The 5 train is running on the west side. Buses in that area are also being rerouted.
