Matt Murphy showed up in San Francisco on Tuesday hoping to see history.
Now, the Queens resident is part of it.
Wearing a New York Mets jersey, Murphy, 22, was in the right-center field stands at AT&T Park when Barry Bonds connected off Washington’s Mike Bacsik on his record 756th career home run that broke Hank Aaron’s 33-year-old major league record.Wearing a New York Mets jersey, Murphy, 22, was in the right-center field stands at AT&T Park when Barry Bonds connected off Washington’s Mike Bacsik on his record 756th career home run that broke Hank Aaron’s 33-year-old major league record.
Finally a Mets fan has the opportunity to catch a meaningful home run ball. Murphy was quickly escorted to a secure area with the ball in tow. No word yet on where the 22-year-old is planning to retire to.
