• So far, the most unfortunate thing about the passing of the 105-year-old and philanthropist Brooke Astor is that there is about $130 million she didn’t have a chance to give away. Now we have to see her heirs squabbling over it. Astor who passed away yesterday had already chosen for her gravestone epitaph, “I’ve had a wonderful life.” [NYP]
• Whackjob Bronx family court judge, Judge Marian Shelton, is taking her crazy act to the people, defending her actions of yelling at a lawyer to “shut up,” tossing a woman from court for wearing “inappropriate” clothing, telling a Caribbean man to “take those stupid things out of your hair” and saying a lawyer had “mental health issues.” This chick makes Judge Judy look sane. • Another classic diner gone, lost to the real estate greed monster. You know it’s bad when even your own family won’t let you keep open the family business that’s been there since 1977. [NYT]
