Since arriving in Albany Gov. Spitzer has put the kibosh on lobbyists picking up checks and insists his staff would rather spend their time at the office rather than at the bar.

It was a Wednesday night at Elda’s on Lark, a bar and restaurant two blocks from the Capitol. Lawmakers would once have been strolling through the doors for a drink or three, or six. But Mr. Connor, a long-serving state senator from Brooklyn Heights, saw no familiar faces. “I keep thinking, I’m 62 — am I out of it? Maybe this isn’t the place anymore,” he said.

What Exactly is Up with Bloomberg’s Congestion Tax Plan?

Am I missing something? In the past Metadish hasn’t been shy about its support of Bloomberg’s congestion tax plan, but now we’re starting to second guess ourselves.

Mayor Bloomberg’s congestion pricing plan is getting a big push forward today from his fellow Republicans - with a top President Bush aide boosting the proposal just as legislation is introduced in Albany.

On top of that it seems that Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) is not to keen on the idea although is support may prove to be key in passing the legislation.

Seriously, what the hell am I missing here? Not that each party isn’t capable of equal asshattery, but why is “a top President Bush aide” helping to pass a law I seem to agree with.

Can someone smarter than me try and explain what the hell is going on with this law and why I should be for or against it? Am I missing some loophole where this law somehow gives all the tax revenues to huge, multinational corporations and kicks homeless people in the nuts or what?
